California Love via USPS

April 3rd’s handwritten note for the April Letter Writing Challenge was on its way to a lovely fellow Californian pal currently residing in North Carolina.  April 3rd was her birthday, so it seemed like the obvious choice — I hope it was a great one, Tania!

This little postal treasure arrived just yesterday, and I was quite tickled when my friend sent me this photo:

The California magnet was a part of an earlier care package I sent her way, and the Sacramento postcard was from an antique store I explored in West Virginia.  When I found it, I just knew it had been waiting to be a letter to her, as Sacramento rests close to her hometown.  The photo Tania sent me was accompanied with the text, “One bucket filler holding up another!”  Now, how great is that?

Tania and I are both members of a concept I’ve explored before called the Californian Diaspora.  We’re intimately connected to our home state, but for now, are out exploring the vast world outside of the Golden State’s borders.  Some days the homesickness can sink in, but little handwritten notes from home can be just what we need to fend off the woes and reconnect to our present journey.

Thanks for sharing the note’s arrival with me, Tania!  I can’t wait to hear more about the smiles arriving in mailboxes everywhere, as handwritten notes are now also making their way to Minnesota and Texas!
